Description: Clean water plans are a watershed-based approach to outline a strategy to improve or protect water quality in a waterbody. These plans document pollution sources, set pollutant reduction goals, and identify strategies that communities may use to improve water quality. Types of Clean Water Plans include Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), Alternative Restoration Plan (ARP) and Nine Element Plan (9E). EPA has set specific criteria that must be met for these three types of watershed-based plans.More information: https://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/23835.html

Description: Macroinvertebrate community assessments were conducted by NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Division of Water, Streams Monitoring and Assessment, Stream Biomonitoring Unit (SBU). Evaluations of stream condition are derived from macroinvertebrate sampling conducted as part of the Rotating Integrated Basin Studies (RIBS) program (RIBS SOP #210-17). Evaluations are conducted using the methods described in SBU standard operating procedures; RIBS SOP #208-16. Sample results provided were generated using the traveling kick and the multiplate artificial substrate sampling methodologies. (208-16, pg. 6).
